Indirect immunofluorescence microscopy using our IVDR-compliant EUROStar III Plus

Microscopy is a fundamental tool in biomedical research and clinical diagnostics. However, each laboratory has different requirements for its instruments: While laboratories with a low sample throughput tend to use manual microscopes, for example for the evaluation of indirect immunofluorescence tests, large laboratories with a high throughput and a broad diagnostic spectrum rather benefit from automated solutions since manual evaluation usually requires much more time and capacities.  Still, even these laboratories frequently employ classic manual microscopy, especially for special analysis requests. Despite the wide range of automation options available, the manual microscope therefore remains an integral part of every laboratory’s inventory.

This is exactly why EUROIMMUN offers a manual microscope in addition to its fully automated microscopes EUROPattern Micropscope and EUROPattern Microscope Live. The EUROStar III Plus was launched in 2005 under the name EUROStar and was the first microscope in the EUROIMMUN portfolio. It has been produced in Selmsdorf near Lübeck from the very beginning and is constantly being enhanced. For instance, mercury vapour lamps with long warm-up times have been replaced by the built-in EUROIMMUN cLED.

The cLED technology has the advantage of consistent fluorescence excitation with instant full light intensity. The EUROStar III Plus is therefore ready whenever it is needed and provides stable conditions for reliable fluorescence pattern evaluation. Another major advantage is the cLED’s low power consumption combined with a long service life of at least 50,000 hours.

Digital connectivity and image acquisition as well as screen evaluation are also provided. Optionally, the microscope can be equipped with a camera that transmits the acquired images directly to the EUROPicture software. Thanks to the integrated 50/50 beam splitter there is no need to switch between the camera and the eyepieces. This makes it quick and easy to view and evaluate microscopy images with colleagues.

The EUROStar III Plus is a high-quality manual microscope that combines simple and user-friendly operation with data digitalisation, making it the ideal tool for IIFT evaluation.

NEW: Since 2023, the EUROStar III Plus conforms to the In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Regulation (IVDR), which means that it meets all the latest regulatory requirements for medical devices in the EU, namely very high standards for safety, performance and quality.
